7 Mile Beach North Course is a planned golf course at Seven Mile Beach, Tasmania, Australia, on land directly north of and adjoining the recently opened South Course. It will be designed by King Collins Dormer, the American architecture firm led by Tad King, Rob Collins and Trevor Dormer, known internationally for Sweetens Cove in Tennessee and Landmand in Nebraska. This is confirmed as the firm’s first project outside the United States.
The site sits on the same sandy, dune-covered peninsula as the South Course, but plays on lower ground below the large central ridge that the South Course occupies, giving it a different character. According to the development team, the North Course is intended to complement rather than duplicate its neighbour, with a more classic, Scottish-style links character contrasted against the more dramatic, Irish-style South Course. Nearby golf courses include the South Course at 7 Mile Beach, Tasmania Golf Club and Royal Hobart Golf Club.
As the North Course has not yet been constructed, a first-hand description of its routing, playing characteristics or conditioning cannot yet be provided.
What is known from the development team is that the site occupies gently contoured, sandy ground beneath the main dune ridge shared with the South Course, with views toward Tiger Head Bay. King Collins Dormer has indicated the course will lean toward a more classic links style than the South Course, with the firm citing the site’s natural contours as well suited to their design approach.
Further detail on hole-by-hole routing, terrain features, strategic elements and playing experience will only be confirmed once construction is underway and course details are formally released by 7 Mile Beach and King Collins Dormer.
Facilities for the North Course have not yet been announced, as the course remains in the planning stage and has not been built. It is expected that any future facilities would be developed in conjunction with 7 Mile Beach’s broader plans for a permanent clubhouse and membership base, which are intended to serve both the South and North courses once fully operational.
